Union Complex Lahore Apartments.
By the end of the 21st century, 93% of the world’s population will move into apartments. I am delight to be asked a not-so-surprising question, “Why are you raising your family in a 675-square-foot apartment?” Union Complex Lahore is the solution of all this. Well, actually, the question sounds more like, “Aren’t you looking for a 1,000-square-foot house for the price of 675?”
We could go house hunting if we wanted to, of course, but the truth is we don’t have the desire to. We lived in a house for three years before moving into our current apartment. And we’re in no hurry to return to that lifestyle.
Yes, we realize it’s a bit counter-cultural. In the US, 80% of the population prefers a single-family home, but only 70% actually live in one. Living in an apartment or condo is preferred by only 8% of the population, but 17% of Americans actually live in an apartment or condo.
In European countries, however, living in apartments is more widespread. In Spain, for example, 65% of the population live in apartments.
It is clearly not the “American norm” to prefer an apartment to a house. So why do we like living in that 8%? What is the appeal of living in an apartment? I think many people don’t even consider the benefits. But the trend in Pakistan is also moving towards apartment living like in the western world.
Here are 7 reasons why we love apartment living and you will too:
1. simplicity
Apartment living is a simpler way of life that leads to a happier, less stressful life. A simple lifestyle provides space to figure out what matters most and the freedom to focus on those things.
Some people love to renovate their homes, and that’s fine. But if that’s not how you feel called to spend your time, living in an apartment frees you from the responsibilities that come with owning a home, and gated service is one of the best ways to do that, too. Instead of spending your weekends maintaining the house or mowing the yard, you can take your kids to the park or swimming pool. You can relax more and even sleep more (yes!) without thinking about the things that need to be done around the house.
This is not lazy living, quite the opposite. It’s a conscious lifestyle that focuses on what you think is important.
2. less stuff
You simply can’t fit many material things into an apartment. It is minimalist by design. This fact forces you to constantly rework your life by making decisions about what stays in your home.
If you allow clutter, you will quickly lose living space. In a smaller space, you won’t be tempted to buy more furniture or other “toys” because you simply don’t have room for them. As new things come into your home, other things have to go. You quickly learn what is “enough” in your home and are motivated to maintain this balance.
3. connection
Connections thrive in smaller spaces. These connections can be in family, faith, or even to yourself. When you have less to take care of in your home, time for family, prayer and self-care can become a daily theme rather than a side note.
Less space in a home allows families to be there for each other more. This leads to more connectedness and more shared experiences.
People talk more, play more and do more together because they are closer (although homes are still big enough to allow room to breathe if needed).
4. Community in Union Complex Lahore.
Residential complexes have a built-in community. Many have weekly activities or a clubhouse where people meet often. This can be beneficial, especially for moms who stay at home (or work from home).
Face-to-face conversation with adults is always easy to find, which can be very welcome during a day spent looking after the children and the household.
The feeling of social isolation is difficult to overcome in apartment complexes. Befriending older neighbors can be especially rewarding. The memories they share are almost always about family and experiences – not things. Hearing stories from their lives reminds you to slow down and look at life from a wider perspective.
5. Financial flexibility
Living in an apartment helps you align your spending with the lifestyle you feel most called to. If your family values relationships, travel, health and generosity, but your finances go toward home projects and repairs, you may not focus as much on those values.
Consider whether the trade-offs make sense. Saving for a new roof, you could travel to visit family abroad several times a year. If you think of replacing your floor, you could go out with your loved one more often. Instead of repairing the foundation of your basement, you could invest in your health by eating organic, real food. Instead of renovating your kitchen, you could donate to a cause close to your heart.
6. Contentment of Union Complex Lahore.
Happiness is when you stay true to yourself and your values – not someone else’s values. Studies also repeatedly show that more possessions do not ultimately make us happier. Although many people pursue the “American dream” (a bigger house, more things), they don’t report being happier as a result.
If you raise your family in an apartment, your children will be taught the same. If your children observe your family’s lifestyle, they will realize that you don’t have to do what everyone else does or live the way everyone else lives to be happy.
7. A tidy home.
Every living space needs to be looked after. By design, apartments are easy to keep tidy. That’s because your building is fully maintained by the Union Complex team. If cleaning doesn’t seem like too much of a chore, you’ll be more motivated to do it. And the peace of mind that comes from a clean, tidy living space will motivate you to keep that feeling in your home too.
Household care systems are also easy to implement. Take laundry, for example. If your washer and dryer are just a few steps away, you’re much more likely to take care of laundry than if you had to walk down two flights of stairs to do your laundry. Your daily chores increases the likelihood that you will get them done.
We realize that apartment living isn’t for everyone. But for us, a minimalist
lifestyle in a 1,000-square-foot apartment leads to more joy, more fulfillment and more family togetherness.
Our home has never been tidier and our family feels very comfortable in this simple, manageable environment.
If you’re looking for a way to simplify your life and focus on the essentials, why not try an apartment?
It’s not the Pakistani norm, but it could be just the lifestyle for you.
